The big buzz for months is Italian Vogue is featuring only fabulous African-American models in their July issue. They picked the month of July because it's the slowest month for fashion magazines for revenue so they could take a risk with sales and frankly they do not give a damn! If they would've done this in September(the most important fashion month) than maybe I would care. Are we suppose to jump up and down and forget years of prejudice and blatant disregard of our beautiful African-Americans models? Only a handful of designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Diane Von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta continue to cast African-American models. I applaud Steven Miesel for taking these beautiful photographs because he knows true beauty. I wonder if Essence Magazine featured only Caucasian models, will the Caucasians readers be just as excited?
