Whistle Stops

Former Buckeye and Twins first round pick Alex Wimmers tossed 5 no-hit innings tonight for the Fort Myers Miracle.  The #21 overall selection walked 1 and struck out 6 in his 3rd pro start, before being pulled for hitting his pitch count.  He has yet to allow a run and has yielded just 2 hits over 10 2/3 innings against FSL batters.

Jared Goedert hits his 27th, but I now hear that he will be playing the role of Jordan Brown this September.  For those of you who have blocked out last season, that means Goedert will not be getting a late season call-up.

Anyone who hasn't seen the highlights of Aroldis Chapman breezing through his 1st three MLB hitters while reaching 103 on the gun needs to do so right now.  He's even more impressive live.

Screw AJ Pierzynski.  Screw the White Sox.  Screw Manny waiting on deck.  I'll be rooting for the Twins this month.  Heck, I'll just be rooting for the Reds.

The Rangers acquire Jeff Francoeur for Joaquin Arias.  Francouer will slide into a lefty/righty platoon with David Murphy.

The NCAA denied Jeremiah Masoli's attempt to circumvent the rule system and play this fall.  Screw Masoli too.  I'm so sick of these idiots.  You know what, take your talent and stuff it.  Try not being dumb enough to get caught next time.  Twice.  Jackass.

Shaun Rogers will not be suspended by the NFL for carrying a loaded semi-automatic weapon into Hopkins.  He will be fined a full game check, about $400k.  Shaun's reasoning for the snafu?  Guns aren't edible so he wasn't really paying attention to it.  Cheers.

Pretty Girl 09.01.10 - Mary Louise Parker

Welll...  She sure ain't shy, that's for sure.  Like I need to tell you to watch Weeds.

20th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards

Absolutely Gorgeous! Nia Long looks breathtaking in this blush asymmetric Grecian dress.

She is pure perfection. I love her pearl chandelier earrings and simple silver clutch.

I just can't believe how beautiful this woman is. Her golden bronze skin is captivating and her hair and make-up is beyond flawless.

First of all, I would like to thank Meagan Good for finally dressing like a lady and putting down those hideous denim booty shorts. I am sure her stylist had to peel her out of them!

The sexy actress looks incredible in her white asymmetric Jean Fares embellished dress.

I do love the cut-out back but the mesh detail just makes it look a little cheap. I do however love her side swept up-do and natural make-up.

Gosh, Diana Ross is looking younger these days. Ohh, She is not Diana, it's actually Ashanti!

Even though Ashanti, who won an award for her role of Dorothy in the 'Wizard of Oz' off broadway, was a little over dressed in her red satin trim mermaid dress, she still looked amazing!

Everything was over-the-top from her dramatic train, rhinestone cocktail ring to her black and silver embellished sandals...totally a Diana moment.

LisaRaye looks sensational in her elegant white silk jersey dress paired with a stunning chain link statement necklace.

Tamera Mowry looks sweet as ever in nude tiered strapless dress paired with gold sandals.

Monique Coleman is giving Meagan Good a run for her money body wise in this turquoise sexy Savee draped dress.

I swear that I didn't know Monique had a body of death!

Wendy Raquel Robinson kept it chic in her silver ruched one-shouldered dress

Naturi Naughton finally got it right in this fantastic gold ruched cocktail dress paired with gold t-straps.

She looks sophisticated but yet young and fresh.

Actress Tiffany Hanes' ensemble was definitely way too casual for this event but I am looooving it!

Her black romantic strong shoulder blouse paired with her cute nude skirt is ideal for a cocktail party and not an award show.

Wow! I really thought this was a sick joke when I viewed Jennia Fredrique in this ridiculous ensemble.

It has no rhyme or reason and the color combination is ghastly as Nina Garcia from 'Project Runway' would say.

Seriously, this is a joke right?

Whistle Stops

Corey Kluber (Acquired in the Westbrook deal) called to AAA to start.  This indicates both that the Indians are sticking to their hard line that Alex White will not see Columbus this year and that a Sept 1 recall of Carlos Carrasco is likely.

The RedLegs have recalled fireballer Arolids Chapman, recently clocked at 105MPH, a day early.  Chapman adjusted admirably to the 'pen at Louisville, adding 3-4MPH to his top end fastball and producing an excellent stat line: 4-1, 8SV, 2.40 ERA, .156 OBA, 0.97 WHIP, 4.08 K/BB, 14.7 K/9, 1HR in 30IP.  It should be a trip to see him against big leaguers down the home stretch.  Go Reds!

Dude, Jimmy Brown is pissed.  And I would be too.  Jim thought that he had a trustworthy relationship with Randy Lerner, only to have the rug pulled out from underneath him and Mike Holmgren inserted as a direct supervisor.  I don't really think that Brown did very much for the organization except offer his unique perspective on football matters, but he's arguably the greatest player of all-time, an excellent asset for a franchise and a city sorely lacking in sporting superlatives.  The manner in which Brown was relieved of his responsibilities and then offered a glorified greeter position in its stead was tactless and embarrassing.  Now the Browns and the city have lost Jimmy, at least for the foreseeable future, and that, as many things have been this summer on the North Coast, is a shame.

A quote from No Logo Needed on the prospect of DA starting for the Cards - "I would have more confidence in my 2 year old niece making a play on third and 7 than I do Anderson."

Despite some strong minor league numbers, the Nationals informed 44 year old Orlando Hernandez that they do not intend to bring him to Washington for September.  El Duque called it quits again and is now focused on retaining his slim lead over Brett Favre in all-time retirements.

No major MLB transactions are expected on this, the last day to add talent for the postseason.

Here's the Buckeyes Depth Chart for the Marshall game.  Cheers.

Pretty Girl 08.31.10 - Maggie Q

Hey Baby, I'm a RockStar.  Think: Nikita

8th Annual BAFTA/LA TV Tea Party

Gucci Fall 2010

Rose Byrne is rocking on of my favorite dresses of fall 2010. She looks amazing in her black and taupe printed cut-out Gucci dress paired with black heels. The actress has been wearing Gucci dresses lately on the red carpet and it's a great collaboration.

This piece is everything I loooove about a garment. It has print, textured and a sexy draped open back. Byrne looks great walking in a room and leaving out as well.

I adore her sleek hair and subtle make -up to complete this fantastic look.

"Late Night With David Letterman": Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba was a breath of fresh air in this cute Marc Jacobs floral print ribbon trim dress. She looks like a fabulous young school girl.

With all the dark fall 2010 silhouettes on the red carpet, it was so refreshing to see this summery look. She kept her hair and make-up low key and simple.

Alba paired the dress with velour criss-cross sandals which I thought was too heavy for such a light dress but my heart still skip a beat for this adorable flirty dress.

Puffs of Smoke

Speaking of smoke... Chris Sale was phenomenal against the Tribe tonight.  Topping out at a brisk 98MPH and using his trademark deceptive delivery, the 6'5", 180lb sidearmer made Shin-Soo Choo and Shelley Duncan look out of their league.  Pronk showed good patience before delivering a solid single up the middle, but Jason Nix went down looking and then promptly got ejected.  Sale looks like the real deal.  The Sox have yet to decide whether he will stick in the bullpen or return to a starting role, but he looks to have the chops either way.  As Manning said, imagine if the 21 year old adds velocity as he fills out his lanky frame.  Jeez.

Whistle Stops

ManRam is officially a ChiSock.  It's a straight waiver claim as Chicago chose to take on Manny's entire salary rather than send the Dodgers a prospect in exchange for $ relief.

Jason Knapp has been clocked up to 99MPH w/ the Captains.

I was at Jacobs for Asdrubal's walk-off on Saturday.  How depressing.  Not only was the crowd pathetically small, not only were they disengaged from the game action, but as soon as I exited the stadium proper, no one seemed to care that the Indians had racked up a dramatic win.  It's a lost season.  And a shame.

Head and Shoulders has insured Troy Polamalu's hair for $1mil.

Maurice Clarett has signed a 1-yr deal with the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL.  It is likely, but not definite, that a judge will allow Mo to leave the state.

The Bengals cut free agent signee Antonio Bryant.  Given that no one else will claim him due to his ailing knees, Cincy will just swallow the $8mil in guaranteed money from the 4-yr, $28mil they gave him in the spring,

Entertainment Tonight's Emmys After Party

Garcelle Beauvais continues to give me fever on the red carpet! She looks sensational in this purple asymmetric silk jersey Catherine Malandrino dress.

Niecy Nash looks wonderful in her nude taffeta dress. I love that she toned down her make-up to a more natural tone.

Morena Baccarin is rocking a fabulous black and gold sequined dress. Her short cut is beyond amazing.

Candace Cameron-Bure is too adorable in this black flirty sheer Ramona Keveza dress paired with black slingbacks.

Which Diva Wore It Better? Dania Ramirez Or Garcelle Beauvais

Dania Ramirez Or Garcelle Beauvais

Dania Ramirez first wore this fabulous Catherine Malandrino asymmetric silk jersey dress to the AXE Lounge event in Southhampton. Dania looked great but the dress was a little too long and I wasn't crazy about her messy hair. I thought she was a little over dressed for the occasion.

Garcelle Beauvais recently wore the purple version to the Entertainment Tonight's Emmys after party. Garcelle is a true diva and she always bring it on the the red carpet. She looks amazing from head to toe.

This was a easy choice for me, Garcelle wins!

HBO Emmys After Party

Anna Paquin redeemed herself in this chic sculptural Alexander McQueen dress.

Does this woman ever smile? You are a movie star on 'True Blood', a hit show, what are you mad about?

Rashida Jones looks divine in her burgundy printed Erdem strapless sheath dress.

Carrie Preston teal and burgundy printed dress was a little too casual for the Emmys but it was perfect for an after party.
I loooove the print and it matches her hair perfectly.

Kate Walsh looks amazing in this rust slinky Carven knotted dress paired with nude heels.

Lake Bell looks glorious in this gold metallic asymmetrical Monique Lhuillier dress. I am drooling over her sensational gold sandals.

Chloe Sevigny
is rocking a fabulous leopard architectural Lanvin dress paired with a cute red clutch and Christian Louboutin heels.
